Weathering steel, also known as atmospheric corrosion resistant steel, is a low-alloy steel series that falls between ordinary steel and stainless steel. It significantly improves the atmospheric corrosion resistance of steel by adding a small amount of corrosion-resistant elements such as copper, chromium, and nickel to plain carbon steel, forming a dense rust layer. ‌
Characteristics of weathering steel
Corrosion resistance: The atmospheric corrosion resistance of weathering steel is 2 to 8 times that of ordinary steel, which can form a dense rust layer in natural environments, hinder the infiltration of oxygen and water, and protect the substrate material.
