What is the point of a decorative fireplace?
Decorative fireplaces
The term decorative fireplaces is increasingly being used to describe various fireplaces. As the name suggests, this fireplace is mainly intended for creating a cosy atmosphere, but can in some cases also provide some level of warmth, but it is not their primary function.
For millennia, people have always been interested in fire. For a long time fire was an essential part of our lives. From prehistoric times to the Industrial Revolution, fire was an important means of survival. It was used to keep you warm on cold days and during the long nights. It was also used to prepare food which in turn has changed our diet significantly over the centuries. Finally, it was used as a light source.
Now we often see oil lamps and torches in gardens for extra atmosphere, in the past these were the only means to illuminate a place. The role of fire and the fireplace has changed considerably since the Industrial Revolution and the introduction of electricity. The fire to keep you warm was replaced by radiators. The fire for cooking was replaced by stoves on electricity or gas. The fire as a light source was replaced by the light bulb.
The fire now got a new role, it became a mood maker, to create the perfect atmosphere in your house. Although the fire was no longer necessary in the house, the fascination with it was no less, so the decorative fireplace was created as a beautiful addition to most interiors.
More and more people are looking for either a small or a large decorative fireplace to give their interior that little bit extra. For example, a nice fireplace for under the television so you can enjoy the fire while watching a nice movie with your loved ones. Or maybe a small table fireplace for a romantic meal, which gives a more romantic and exciting effect than a simple candle.
