The story of how the hanging fireplace was born.

Suspended or, ‘floating fireplaces’ have a very interesting birth story. 1967, It was cold evening in the south of France and Dominique Imbert was restoring a ruined farmhouse, stone by stone, in the village of Viols-le-Fort. With salvaged scraps of metal, the former humanities professor, with a passion for metalwork, addressed this problem by forging his first fireplace. What was revolutionary was his fireplace hung from the ceiling. Imbert would go on to found his company, Focus Fires, and today his iconic designs are available in around the world.

A fireplace or hearth is a structure made of brick, stone or metal designed to contain a fire. Fireplaces are used for the relaxing ambiance they create and for heating a room. Modern fireplaces vary in heat efficiency, depending on the design.
